Accessibility Statement
I want this site to be usable by everyone, and I am working to meet WCAG 2.2 Level AA as the standard.
My commitment
Observable Labs is a one-person practice, and accessibility is something I build in rather than bolt on. I aim for the site to be navigable by keyboard, readable by screen readers, legible at standard zoom levels, and usable across common assistive technologies.
Standard I am targeting
I use the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA as my benchmark. This covers things like sufficient colour contrast, descriptive link text, alt text on meaningful images, visible focus indicators, and a logical heading structure.
Where I may fall short
I test with automated tools and manual keyboard and screen-reader checks, but I have not commissioned a formal third-party audit. Some older blog content or embedded third-party material may not yet meet the standard. If you find a barrier, I want to know.
Tell me about a barrier
If something on the site is hard to use or inaccessible to you, please email jon@observablelabs.ca with a short description of the issue, the page URL, and the assistive technology or browser you are using. I will respond within five business days and aim to fix substantive issues within 30 days, or offer the information in another format in the meantime.
Alternative formats
If you need information from this site in another format — such as plain text, large print, or read aloud over a call — email me and I will arrange it at no cost.
